Service Changes
Public transit systems across the country are experiencing operator shortages, including Chatham Area Transit. To better match service to current staffing levels, CAT modified operating hours of some fixed-route bus routes on October 31, 2022. The temporary changes will be updated as conditions improve.
Bus Schedules & Maps (Current and Effective July 17, 2023)
There has been changes to bus schedules for Routes 3 West Chatham, 4 Barnard, 6 CrossTown, 11 Candler, 14 Abercorn, 17 Silk Hope, 25 MLK, and 31 Skidaway/Sandfly. The 7D-C now serves the 29 Gwinnett Cloverdale route.
3B Augusta Ave – 3B Augusta Ave
3 West Chatham/Sav HHI Airport – 3 West Chatham
3 West Chatham Route continues to provide service between the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and the Joe Murray Rivers, Jr. Intermodal Transit Center in Downtown Savannah. This is NOT a direct Airport Shuttle service but a part of CAT’s regular fixed route service. Please plan and schedule accordingly
4 Barnard – 4 Barnard
Service now starts at 8 a.m. (Mon-Sat), running every two hours from ITC to Walmart at Montgomery Cross. This change improves reliability and maintains the published schedule.
6 Cross Town – 6 CrossTown
Operating on a 1-hour frequency during morning and afternoon peak periods, Route 6 offers increased convenience. Trips have been retimed to allow for efficient connections to other routes.
7D-C Cloverdale and Carver Village
The 7D-C now serves Route 29, extending down W. Gwinnett Street to Lynes Avenue. Service starts earlier on Saturdays and Sundays to provide similar service as on Route 29.
10 East Savannah – 10 East Savannah
11 Candler – 11 Candler
Service has been restored on Route 11, running from 5:45-10:20 a.m. and 1:05-7:30 p.m. (Mon-Fri). The updated pattern now serves Savannah State via Derenne Ave., Laroche Ave., and Skidaway Road.
12 Henry – 12 Henry
14 Abercorn –14 Abercorn
Route 14 now provides service to the VA Clinic at the Savannah Mall. The route operates on a 30-minute frequency (Mon-Sat) and a 40-minute frequency on Sundays. The cycle time has been extended for improved reliability. Two buses will also begin service from Walmart on Fulton Road to the ITC in the mornings (Mon-Fri) for better connectivity.
17 Silk Hope- 17 Silk Hope
20 Skidaway Island/Coffee Bluff – Temporarily Suspended – 20 Skidaway Island/Coffee Bluff
25 MLK – 25 MLK
A slight change in the pattern now has the bus turning right onto Exchange Street and right onto W. 52nd Street. The schedule remains the same.
27 Waters – 27 Waters
28 Waters – 28 Waters
29 Gwinnett Cloverdale – The 7D-C Cloverdale and Carver Village now serves Route 29, extending down W. Gwinnett Street to Lynes Avenue. Service starts earlier on Saturdays and Sundays to provide similar service as on Route 29.
31 Skidaway/Sandfly – 31 Skidaway Sandfly
Early AM trips have been added inbound to ITC for improved service.
Fare-Free Downtown Savannah Services
DOT EXPRESS SHUTTLE – Weekday Service: Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Weekend Service: 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
7D-C DOT Extension Cloverdale & Historic Carver Village – The DOT Shuttle (7D-C) will now service Carver Village and Cloverdale.
SAVANNAH BELLES FERRY – Service Alert: Ferry Services are running from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
SENIOR CIRCULATOR – Service Alert: Service remains suspended
