Fare Media
How much does it cost to ride the bus?

   Cash fare each boarding is $1.00.
   For passengers over 65 and disabled riders, fare each boarding is 50¢.

What types of fare media are available to riders?
   CAT offers a variety of fare options to suite every rider:
      Weekly CAT card …………... $12.00
      Cards are dated Monday- Sunday and offer unlimited riding for the month.

      Monthly CAT card …………. $48.00
      Cards are dated from the first to the last day of the month offer unlimited riding
      for the specific month printed on the card.

      Booklet of ten Cash Advance Tickets…….. $10.00
      Tickets may be used any time before the expiration date printed on the back.

      Elderly/Disabled Tokens…….. 20 for $10.00
      Optional

      Teleride Tickets…….. 10 for $12.00
      Optional

Where can I purchase tickets, tokens and swipe cards?

   Fare media are available at CAT offices, 900 East Gwinnett Street, and at CAT Central,
   124 Bull Street.

Can I buy tickets, tokens and swipe cards online?
   Currently, fare media are only available at CAT outlet locations.

What are the hours of operation for fare media sales?
   CAT offices are open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Saturday, 8:30 a.m.- 11:30
   a.m. CAT Central is open Monday- Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Is there a student discount on tickets, tokens and swipe cards?
   Prices of fare media are already discounted. No further discounts are available.

Do children pay to ride the bus?
   Children under 41” tall (height of most fareboxes) ride free. Only two young children per
   accompanying passenger may ride free.

Passengers with Disabilities
Are buses wheelchair accessible?

   CAT’s fleet of buses is 100% accessible for people with disabilities. All buses are equipped
   with wheelchair ramps or lifts.

What services are offered for passengers with disabilities?
   Half Fare Program
   Eligible disabled individuals and persons 65 and older may ride CAT fixed routes for half
   fare at any time. For eligibility requirements and further information, click here.

What is Teleride?
   The Teleride transportation system is a door-to-door transportation service available to
   eligible disabled persons in Chatham County. For eligibility requirements and guidelines,
   click here.

General Information
What is the Downtown Loop?

   All buses on routes entering the downtown area will travel some portion or all of the
   Downtown Loop. Buses enter and exit the loop at several locations, and all buses travel
   the loop in a clockwise direction. This loop serves as a major transfer point for many
   buses.

Will I need a transfer to change buses?
   CAT does not offer transfers at this time. If you must transfer buses to arrive at your
   final destination, please deposit either a cash advance ticket or $1.00 in the farebox
   of the connecting bus.

When do the CAT buses operate?
   Bus service is available daily including Sundays. Serviced starts at 5:30 a.m. and ands at
   11:30 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays. On Sundays, service starts at 7:00 a.m.
   and ends at 9:00 p.m. Please note that route service hours are based on ridership
   and differ for each route. See Schedules and Routes for a complete listing of times and
   stops. On Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day, buses do not run.

Can I take my bike on the bus?
   Passengers may place bikes on the bike rack at the front of the bus. Bikes are
   accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis. No more than two, single-seated,
   non-motorized bikes can be loaded on the bike rack frame. There is not an additional
   fare to use bike racks. CAT is not responsible for loss, injury or other liability
   arising from the use of bike racks.

Where can I get a ride guide?
   Ride guides are located on the buses and at numerous locations throughout the city
   of Savannah. Please call CAT at 912-233-5767 for the location nearest you.

How can I retrieve articles lost on the bus?
   CAT is not responsible for items left on our vehicles. At the end of each day, vehicles
   are checked for left items. These items are turned in to the Lost and Found at the CAT
   offices at 900 Gwinnett Street. If you have lost any items please call 912-236-2111 and
   a transit agent will assist you.

How many services does CAT operate?
   CAT offers an array of transportation options:
      Fixed-route services
      Fare-free CAT Shuttle in downtown Savannah
      Fare-free Liberty Street Parking Shuttle
      Savannah Belles Ferry system

Does CAT offer any free services?
   CAT Shuttle
      With operating assistance provided by the city of Savannah, CAT’s fare-free shuttle
      offers service from downtown hotels, inns and the Savannah Visitors Center to
      Savannah’s historic sites, squares, River Street, Savannah Belles Ferry and many
      other attractions. For more information and timetables, click here.

   Liberty Street Parking Shuttle
      In conjunction with the City of Savannah, CAT provides garage shuttle service. This
      shuttle targets people working in the downtown area who use the Liberty Parking
      Garage.

   Savannah Belles Ferry
      Savannah Belles Ferry serves as a link between Savannah and Hutchinson Island. The
      Waving Girl and City Hall landings are conveniently located on River Street to shuttle
      customers to the Trade Center landing on Hutchinson Island. For more information on

I’ve never ridden the bus before. What are some tips to aid me in my trip planning?
   Arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes before your bus is scheduled to come.
   Have your fare ready when boarding the bus.
   Ask the operator if you are unsure about your route.

What is the Transit District?
   The transit district includes Savannah, unincorporated Chatham County and a portion of
   Garden City. Citizens within the Transit District pay a modest transit tax.

What are the independent municipalities not served by CAT?
   They are Pooler, Port Wentworth, Bloomingdale, Vernonburg, Tybee, Thunderbolt,
    and Garden City. (Note: a portion of Garden City is served by CAT.)

Why doesn’t CAT serve independent municipalities, such as Tybee and Pooler?
   CAT can not provide service to the independent municipalities because they are located
   outside of the Transit District.

How can I get to the airport on a CAT?
   The 2 West Chatham services the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and extends
   as far as the Crossroads Business Center. Riders can catch the 2 West Chatham at any
   bus stop located along the downtown loop. For timetables, click here.

How is CAT governed?
   CAT is governed by a Board of Directors which includes the nine Chatham County
