CAT Outreach Manager Speaks at Black History Month Event

On Tuesday, February 24, 2017, the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration, held its second annual Black History Month observance at the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport. The event centered around the theme: “Crisis in Black Education,” and the program featured presentations from various citizens within our local community who shared some of their own personal experiences and perspectives.

CAT is proud that Valerie Ragland, Outreach Manager was asked to participate in such an enriching experience. Mrs. Ragland spoke about what she perceived as some barriers that could have prevented her from successfully achieving a quality education in Savannah, GA. She shared some of her childhood experiences but stated afterwards that she was more inspired by the other presenters. A diverse group of local educators and others who are truly committed to recognizing and eliminating barriers to quality education, the presenters’ biographies can be found in the program below.
